Don't ask us how...but somehow our boys are Twins fanatics! Logan has learned the names of almost the entire team, and when he is not eating or sleeping he either wants to watch baseball or play baseball. He was so excited to learn that Joe Nathan was at the health club this morning signing autographs. Only (2) more Saturdays of baseball than soccer and football start - maybe the Twins will be replaced with the Vikings...at least football is only on Sundays!

Long summer weekend.
This weekend we took a couple of days of PTO and spent a long "tourist" weekend in Duluth. We did the things we normally don't do when we visit:

-Ride the Vista Star boat around Lake Superior

Summer lovin, had me a blast....summer lovin happened so fast
For all those Greece fans out there - what a GREAT weekend. Sunday (today) started at Hosanna! All the Mayfield boys then went to the barber and got rid of their hair. Logan looks sooooo MUCH better. Carter looks about the same except his hair is no longer in his eyes....and Dad has less grey. After haircuts we went down the street and celebrated baby Victoria's baptism - nothing like a dozen kids jumping in the inflatables when it is hot and humid. I think inflatables have become a standard presence in our neighborhood. After that fun we went out on the lake again for a beautiful evening of tubing. The boys love to bounce around and swim in the lake. Needless to say they both crashed about 30 minutes ago.
It is hard to tell in this picture, but the boys have red and blue gel in their hair to honor the Twins!

Summer Time Fun
This past week has been one of the busiest and most FUN all summer - so much to share .
Last Saturday we ate breakfast with the Lakeville Fire Department at the annual waffle breakfast. This has been a tradition every summer in our house the past 4 years. The boys loved eating the waffles and sausage and playing in the fire trucks. Saturday night we had front row seats for the Pan-o-Prog parade. There were over 18,000 people there - guess it is one of the largest in MN. We stayed for the famous Lakeville North Marching Band (number 106 - 2.5 hours into the parade, then left). The band played at the Obama inauguration!
Logan was in football camp (K-2nd grade) all week from 9:30-12:30pm with 102 other kids. He was in HEAVEN! Not sure we want a football player in our house. The coaches did a great job teaching them basic skills. Logan's favorite was running the obstacle course, learning to tackle the pads, pushing the sled, and the games. One of the coaches was a high-school boy on our street. He threw Logan 4 TDs in one of the games. He is registered for football this fall - it is 2 hand touch till 3rd grade. Nothing like football in 90 degree heat with tons of humidity!
Logan's stats for the week:
PPK: 123
Obstacle Course: 1:11:18
40-yd dash: 8:50 seconds

Today our friends invited us out on their boat. The kids had a blast swimming in the lake and tubing! It was a REALLY HOT day and the water felt wonderful. Everyone should sleep good tonight. Outside of that just another regular week with baseball games, work travel for Shawn (CLT), several trips to the health club, and some gardening (the veggies are starting to come full force).

Carter - Front Page News!
Carter made the front page of the Lakeville/Farmington Thisweek Newspaper! This week is "pan-o-prog" in Lakeville with numerous events each day. On Tuesday, we all went up to the local mall for the tractor pull. I saw someone taking pictures and we were surprised on Friday when we opened the mail and saw Carter's picture on the front page of the Newspaper. He was in the 4 and under category but they described him as a 4-year-old. Neither of the boys won a trophy, but they had a great time. See previous posts for more pictures.
Link to the online version of the paper. Scroll down about half way on the page, and right under Miss Lakeville there is a series of photos - you will see the one of Carter that made the paper. We went and got a stack of copies for his memory book :-)
