Logan's 1st Guitar Recital

Disclaimer #1: Logan is the youngest person in his guitar class

Disclaimer #2: Logan has only had 5 sessions

Disclaimer #3: Shawn plays a little guitar - Sara none.

Disclaimer #4: Logan did not know how to read music prior to guitar class

Now that your expectations are REALLY LOW - here is Logan playing "Ode to Joy" at his recital yesterday. I think he has done a great job learning to read music - his fingers just need to grow a little so it is easier to hit the different notes. Not surprising to us - Logan got the "most enthusiastic" award in his class - we definitely know he is not shy!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Shawn expresses his love with flowers...Carter expresses his love with "kung fu!"

Disney World Videos

Surprise - We are going to Disney World!

We surprised the boys with a last minute week long vacation to Disney World last week. Some of our highlights:

  • Parade with Eli Manning the day after the Super Bowl (first picture) - he actually does go to Disney World...for at least 10 minutes to film a commercial

  • Character Dining

  • Wilderness Resort - great location and convenient to the Magic Kingdom

  • "More ketchup!" - eating at the Whisper Canyon Restaurant

  • Wearing shorts - 80 degree weather

  • Getting all the country stamps at Epcot

  • "Wishes" fireworks

  • Animal Kingdom safari - the lion was awake and roaring at our jeep

  • Carter going on Splash Mountain 2x - he is our daring little guy

What happened to January?

The quiet blog has been an indicator of how busy our lives have been the past month. January is usually Shawn's busiest month at work - this year was no exception with (1) trip to San Francisco, (1) trip to Los Angeles, and (3) trips on Arizona.

Logan finished basketball and went straight into 4 weekends of traveling soccer tryouts. He decided he wanted to tryout for U9 traveling soccer this spring. There are (18) 8 year olds trying out so hopefully they will be able to fill (2) full U9 teams with 8 year olds. Yesterday was the final day with 4 hours of field practice - indoors of course.

Carter is still playing hockey and loving it. He wants to be a goalie when he grows up. Our HOA poured a rink but the amazing warm weather has turned it into a puddle. Last weekend several families got together and cleared a pond in our development and we have been using that instead. It is a great space - but there is no nice lodge adjacent to put on the skates and indulge in some adult beverages. Carter also is recovering from a case of strep.

Sara is managing the home front and volunteering lots at school. Going to part-time has been great.

This week we surprised the boys and will share pictures soon of our current adventure.
