Memorial Day in Pictures

We decided not to go to the cabin for Memorial Day this year - figured it was cold enough in the cities. Instead each of the boys got to pick out a favorite activity to do on one of the days.

Friday Night: Carter choose Chuck-E-Cheese. The boys had a blast eating pizza and playing games - we actually won close to 600 tickets. Of course with 600 tickets you can get 600 pieces of junk.

Saturday: After some morning clouds it turned into a beautiful afternoon and we went to Chutes n' Ladders at Hyland Park. Logan invited his friend Zach and all the boys had a great time climbing -mom and dad had a great time taking turns going for nice long jogs around the various trails. We actually ran into some of our old Peace Corps friends from Suriname as well. In the late PM Lakeville was in the bullseye for some serious storms. We had lots of hail and rain, but the damage was limited to our gardens. Many of our hostas now have nice holes in them. It could have been worse, during the storm Sara and the boys were at the water park with the car outside - luckily just 2 miles away and they didn't get any hail. (pictures below)

Sunday: Logan choose to go to a Twins game. Shawn and Logan got some good, last-minute seats and went to watch the Twins lose another game. It actually was a close game and they made a great 9th inning comeback just to fall short. Logan brought his sign from last game - everyone loves his Twins pillow-pet that has become a regular at the games as well. Next game we have tickets to is in 4 weeks - hopefully Mauer will be back by then. It was also Thome Bat day (picture below).

Summer Fun

Unfortunately our blogging slows down in summer - too many outside activities to do.

It is baseball season and Logan is in heaven. When he is not playing baseball with the neighborhood kids, 2 nights a week he is playing on the Texas Rangers...all other waking hours are busy watching the Twins on TV or listening to them on AM radio. We need to capture some better pictures of his games - more to come.

On Tuesday this week (before baseball) we went to a school picnic. They had tons of fun "minute to win it" games for the kids and free Green Mill pizza. The boys loved "fencing." What brothers wouldn't love having permission to hit one another with real swords. Logan is in the grey pants and Carter the black pants.

Our spring gardens are in full bloom. The lilacs are finally out - about 3-4 weeks later than last year. Our vegetable garden is about 80% planted. So far we have green and yellow beans, peas, cucumbers, strawberries, green and red peppers, and a couple tomatoes. It will be interesting to see if anything grows with this cold spring - the beans and peas have poked through the dirt finally.

Neighborhood crazy kids. It is so nice having kids old enough to run around the neighborhood unsupervised! Kickball is the new neighborhood activity. The high school boys even join the elementary kids almost every afternoon once the bus gets home.

Carter - Soccer Pictures

Now that Carter is officially "4" - he can start playing in all the BIG kid sports. Perfect timing with the start of spring soccer season. Last weekend was 67 and sunny, today we played in rain and the temp was about 45. Ugh! The kids didn't mind the rain and Carter had a blast.
